16 Bars Join BVI Fish Fete
Sixteen bars will bring Road Town to life this weekend at the Village Cay Parking Lot as part of the BVI Fish Fete Bar Fiesta, featuring 10 bands, two international artists and several DJs. Events include the Libra Glow Fiesta on Friday, BAND-O-RAMA food fete and fish fry on Saturday, and a Latin Bar Fiesta on Sunday.
Sixteen bars will participate in the BVI Fish Fete Bar Fiesta this weekend, transforming the Village Cay Parking Lot in Road Town, Tortola into a three-day celebration of food, music and local business. Organisers say the programme includes 10 bands, two international artists and several DJs across the weekend.
Parillion said the expanded Bar Fiesta component has given the traditional fish fete “a spark” and highlights how the local business community can work together. “To have 16 bars participating shows that the business community can come together under one umbrella to showcase what their business is about.
It’s a family-friendly event in the heart of town, and we have exciting nights,” he said. Friday night will feature the Libra Glow Fiesta with Jamaica’s international artist Armani headlining, supported by Shaw HP The Band, Gusbus from the USVI and a lineup of local entertainers. Saturday is billed as BAND-O-RAMA, with a daytime food fete and fish fry running from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM where vendors will serve a range of fish dishes, followed by evening performances beginning at 7:00 PM.
On Sunday the programme shifts to a Latin Bar Fiesta. Parillion said the English bars will give way to Spanish bars for a full day of Latin food and music beginning at 11:00 AM and continuing into the night. Dominican Republic international star Donaty is scheduled to perform alongside regional and local acts.
Organisers stress the event’s economic as well as cultural benefits. Parillion noted that October is typically a slower month for the islands’ hospitality sector, and the festival provides an opportunity for 16 vendors to generate revenue and for residents and visitors to enjoy entertainment and food in the centre of Road Town.
He also said several patrons from neighbouring islands have expressed interest in travelling to the BVI for the weekend. Safety and community impact are priorities: Parillion confirmed meetings have been held with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, which will assist with security throughout the weekend.
The event is promoted as family-friendly and accessible to local residents; organisers encourage attendees to come out early to enjoy the daytime food fete and to follow any safety guidance issued by authorities. The Bar Fiesta forms part of the broader Fish Fete activities and represents a collaborative push by local businesses and entertainers to boost activity in the heart of Road Town during an otherwise quiet season.
