16th Summer Sizzle BVI Shines
The 16th Summer Sizzle BVI concluded July 18 with the Global Glamour Runway Show at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, featuring international designers and a kids runway. A day earlier organisers held a Confidence & Courage Symposium in partnership with the BVI Film Commission and H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, led by actress Crystle Stewart to empower local young women.
The 16th Summer Sizzle BVI wrapped up on Saturday, July 18, 2026, with the Global Glamour Runway Show at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, delivering an evening billed as "Where Fashion Meets Fantasy." The programme opened with a Kids Runway Show and proceeded to a main runway that brought together an international slate of designers alongside local talent.
Featured designers included Puerto Rican names David Antonio and Jaer Cabán, Paulette Cleghorn, Guyana-born Roger Gary, Virgin Islands designer Andrea Wilson, Cesar Galindo, Nigerian‑British artist and designer Chuks Collins, and Beverly Hills couturier Oliver Tolentino. Menswear labels founded by Daniel Mofor, Don Morphy, and Gyv Me Body by Nyki Allen were also showcased.
New York City runway model and coach Jessica Millin — known for her Project Runway appearances — served as special guest model. Organisers said the event continues to provide a high-profile platform for BVI creatives to appear alongside international designers, helping to raise the territory’s profile in Caribbean fashion and creative industries.
The inclusion of a kids runway also offered a family-friendly element and a chance for emerging young talent to gain stage experience. Ahead of the runway, Summer Sizzle BVI held its Confidence & Courage Symposium on Friday, July 17, in partnership with the BVI Film Commission and H.
The symposium was hosted by actress Crystle Stewart of Tyler Perry’s Netflix series Beauty in Black, who shared her personal journey and led discussions on resilience, self‑confidence and pursuing creative careers. In an interview with JTV Channel 55’s Cathy O. Richards and Dean Greenaway (aka "The Sportsman"), Summer Sizzle BVI founder and executive director Terry T.
Donovan described the symposium as uplifting. "It was truly amazing to hear that our young women here were so open to having conversations and being vulnerable," he said. "The topics and questions and the little test and assignments that Crystle gave them, it brought out a lot of emotions, and I have to say even I was teary, so it was beautiful." Now in its 16th year, Summer Sizzle BVI continues to combine fashion, youth engagement and professional development, partnering with local institutions to create opportunities for BVI residents in arts, entertainment and related fields.
According to Virgin Islands News Online, organisers thanked partners, participants and audiences for supporting another successful edition.
