AIR QUALITY UPDATE FOR THE VIRGIN ISLANDS Issued : Thursday, September 10, 2026 Effective : September 11, 2026 Valid Until September 13, 2026 🌤️ AIR QUALITY ADVISORY | Saharan Dust Surge Incoming 🌤️ The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is issuing an Air Quality Advisory for the British Virgin Islands. A significant plume of Saharan Dust is expected move across the Territory beginning tomorrow, Friday, September 11, and is expected to linger through at least Sunday Air quality levels will range from Moderate to Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. ⚠️ Key Highlight: SATURDAY is anticipated to be the peak day with the highest concentration of dust haze. 🛑 What does this mean for you? If you have Asthma or Respiratory Illnesses: The elevated dust particles can cause coughing, sneezing, itchy eyes, and breathing difficulties.
Please take precautions early and keep inhalers close.
