The Daily News reports Hyndman is a biology graduate of the University of the Virgin Islands who hopes to become an ophthalmologist; she said she plans to use the scholarship to further her studies and return to help local health care, including partnering with clinics and the Lions Club to offer free eye screenings (Daily News).
