Residents across the British Virgin Islands can expect mostly pleasant conditions punctuated by brief morning showers today, according to the latest regional weather bulletin released by the Department of Disaster Management in coordination with the Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services.
Meteorologist Lenard Josiah reported that shallow pockets of moisture embedded within a moderate easterly breeze are drifting across the Virgin Islands. These atmospheric conditions will bring partly sunny skies with a 40 percent, or moderate, chance of quick passing showers during the morning hours.
Heading into the night, weather across the territory is expected to become fair to partly cloudy, with the likelihood of rain diminishing to a slight 20 percent chance. Regional forecasters noted that a weak trough system will begin moving over the broader area tonight, potentially generating increased cloudiness and shower activity across the neighboring Leeward Islands.
For small craft operators, fishers, and coastal water enthusiasts, marine conditions across the territory remain moderate. Winds are projected to blow from the east at speeds ranging between 8 and 16 mph over land, with gusts reaching up to 18 mph across open coastal waters. Sea swells are expected to hold steady between 4 and 5 feet, or 1.2 to 1.5 meters.
Sunset this evening is scheduled for 6:09 PM, while sunrise tomorrow morning will occur at 6:08 AM. The Department of Disaster Management advises the public to remain aware of local marine updates and shifting weather patterns as minor atmospheric troughs traverse the northeastern Caribbean.
