The Inland Revenue Department under the Ministry of Finance, supported by the Department of Information Technology, has officially launched its enhanced eTax Filing Portal, internal operations system, and online Payment Gateway at efiling.gov.vg. The upgraded digital platform enables employers, individual taxpayers, and designated tax agents across the British Virgin Islands to file Payroll Tax declarations and complete online payments for all tax types, including Property Tax, using standard credit or debit cards.

Wheatley highlighted the launch as an essential milestone in modernising public services and delivering accessible, citizen-centred solutions. He explained that taxpayers and business owners can now manage their filings and settle outstanding liabilities remotely at any time, eliminating the need to visit physical government offices.

Wheatley commended both the Inland Revenue Department and the Department of Information Technology for their collaborative work in bringing the initiative to fruition. The enhanced portal incorporates several practical features designed to increase efficiency and accuracy in payroll submissions.

Employers can either enter employee records manually or batch-import data using CSV spreadsheets from existing templates. The system also automatically calculates tax totals, allows users to save in-progress returns, and provides tools to process full online corrections for previously submitted periods.

By centralising assessment records and data management, the digital upgrade enables Inland Revenue officers to review submissions and resolve public queries much faster. It also introduces accelerated payment processing and secure digital record-keeping, strengthening the Territory's revenue collection and long-term financial management framework.

Existing portal users can sign in using their current login credentials, while new users can complete an online registration and consult a step-by-step eTax Quick Guide. Members of the public requiring technical support or general tax information can contact the Inland Revenue Department by emailing bvitaxes@gov.vg or calling (284) 468-2155.
