BVI NextWave Brings Digital Finance Insights
BVI Finance and the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) will co-host BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day on Thursday, June 25, 2026, a free, public half‑day event at the Robert Mathavious Institute in Port Purcell. The session aims to translate high‑level Fintech on the Seas discussions into practical knowledge for students, professionals, entrepreneurs and residents interested in digital assets, blockchain and fintech.
BVI Finance and HLSCC are bringing practical digital finance learning to Tortola with BVI NextWave: Digital Assets Discovery Day, a free community event on Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Robert Mathavious Institute in the Oleander Building, Port Purcell. The Discovery Day, described in a joint HLSCC press release, is powered by Fintech on the Seas — an international fintech forum hosted by BVI Finance from June 22 to 24 at Oil Nut Bay and Necker Island.
While Fintech on the Seas gathers global industry leaders and regulators for high‑level discussion, BVI NextWave is designed to make those conversations accessible and actionable for local residents, students and small business owners. Speakers scheduled for the morning include Kingsley Advani, chairman of Advani Family Office and CEO of Allocations; Mark Mariampillai, founder of Tokuti and a tokenisation specialist; and Ashley Wright, a digital assets strategist focusing on blockchain, artificial intelligence and inclusive pathways into tech and entrepreneurship.
CEO of BVI Finance Elise Donovan said the initiative aims to channel the conference’s international expertise back into the Territory: “We are equally committed to helping develop the next generation of financial services and digital assets professionals on island, so it is critical the valuable insights generated at the conference help educate the local community too.” Chidi Liburd, Executive Director of the Robert Mathavious Institute, said the partnership supports the institute’s mission to make world‑class financial services education available locally.
Hosting the event in a central, easily accessible location removes cost and distance barriers, the release added. The half‑day programme will introduce attendees to core topics such as digital assets, blockchain, fintech, Web3, tokenisation of real‑world assets and emerging payments technologies.
Presentations and panel discussions aim to connect these topics to practical career and business opportunities in the Virgin Islands’ financial services sector — an industry that remains central to the Territory’s economy. For BVI residents, the event offers a chance to hear directly from global practitioners and regulators — including elements of the larger Regulatory and Policy Summit convening officials from the United States, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands — and to ask questions about how digital finance developments might affect local jobs, compliance and business models.
BVI NextWave is free and open to the public. Attendees should plan to arrive early given limited seating and the event’s short, information‑rich programme.
