BVIEC Advances Virgin Gorda Grid Upgrades
The BVI Electricity Corporation has deployed field teams to carry out targeted grid upgrades across Virgin Gorda to tackle recurring power outages and voltage instability. The improvements follow high-level talks between utility leadership and Ninth District Representative Vincent Wheatley aimed at addressing long-standing electricity challenges affecting residents and businesses.
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has initiated targeted infrastructure upgrades across Virgin Gorda in an effort to stabilize the island's electrical grid and significantly curb persistent power disruptions. BVIEC technical crews were deployed across the sister island to carry out vital interventions on the local distribution network.
The ongoing works are specifically designed to reinforce system resilience, reduce the frequency of outages, and ensure a more consistent voltage supply for households and commercial establishments. The physical upgrades follow recent high-level discussions between Ninth District Representative Honourable Vincent O.
Wheatley and BVIEC leadership, during which a roadmap of critical improvements was outlined to address the island's ongoing electricity challenges. In a statement shared with constituents, Hon. Wheatley expressed gratitude to the utility teams on the ground and commended the Virgin Gorda community for their patience during the maintenance and reinforcement period. "As highlighted by Director Smith during our discussion a few weeks back on the planned improvements, works have begun and continue to address the issues and improve the reliability of our electricity supply."
