BVIEC Issues Tenders For Territory-Wide Fuel Supply
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation has issued formal invitations to tender for the supply and delivery of diesel fuel to power stations on Tortola and Anegada, alongside its capital project on Virgin Gorda. The International Competitive Bidding processes outline specific site visit dates and submission deadlines across July, September, and October 2026 for qualified contractors and fuel suppliers.
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has launched major procurement procedures under International Competitive Bidding (ICB) to secure essential fuel supplies for the Territory's power grid while advancing capital development on the Sister Islands. The statutory corporation is actively seeking bids for both territory-wide diesel fuel delivery and the construction of a brand-new administrative building on Virgin Gorda.
Under the newly announced fuel supply tender, BVIEC invites experienced and qualified firms to submit sealed bids for the supply and delivery of No. 2 diesel fuel oil. The contract will supply the Henry Wilfred Smith Power Station at Pockwood Pond on Tortola and the Anegada Power Station.
To give prospective suppliers complete clarity on logistics and infrastructure, BVIEC has scheduled site visits and bidder conferences at the Henry Wilfred Smith Power Station on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at 10:00 AM, and at the Anegada Power Station on Friday, July 10, 2026, starting at 9:00 AM.
Attendees traveling to Anegada are advised to catch the 7:00 AM ferry departing from the Road Town Ferry Terminal. The final deadline for diesel fuel tender submissions is Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM. Concurrently, BVIEC is advancing its capital development plans on Virgin Gorda, where the corporation is inviting tenders for the construction of a modern administrative building.
The proposed facility, situated at Virgin Gorda South on Block 4840B, Parcel 568, is designed to enhance customer service operations and provide updated workspaces for local utility staff. A bidder conference and site inspection for the Virgin Gorda project will take place on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 9:00 AM.
Bids for the construction works must be submitted no later than Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 10:00 AM. For both procurement processes, interested contractors and suppliers can request full tender documentation or submit clarification inquiries by emailing the BVIEC procurement team at procurement@bvielectricity.com.
In accordance with standard statutory procurement regulations, BVIEC noted that it does not bind itself to accept the lowest-priced or any submission received. The corporation also maintains the right to cancel or partially modify either tender notice without reimbursing any costs incurred by participating firms.
Together, the procurement initiatives highlight BVIEC's twin focus on maintaining reliable base-load generation capacity across Tortola and Anegada while expanding its physical customer service infrastructure on the Sister Islands.
