BVIEC Launches Customer Database Update Drive

The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation has launched a territory-wide customer database update under its Know Your Customer initiative. The exercise aims to improve service delivery, enhance fraud protection, and streamline communication for both electricity and water consumers across the islands.

The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation has officially launched its Customer Database Update exercise across the territory. The initiative is a key component of the power provider's broader Know Your Customer campaign, designed to ensure all active accounts contain accurate, up-to-date consumer details.

According to BVIEC, maintaining current account records will significantly enhance service delivery for residents and businesses across the Virgin Islands. Accurate contact and account details allow the corporation to communicate more effectively during outages or maintenance, process service requests rapidly, and protect accounts against unauthorized changes and potential fraud.

In addition to electricity consumers, the update exercise extends to customers of the Water and Sewerage Department who query bills or make payments at the BVIEC Long Bush customer care centre. These individuals are also invited to update their contact records and must provide their water meter numbers to ensure synchronized accuracy between both public utility databases.

Residents have multiple convenient options to complete the update process. Customers can visit BVIEC offices in person at Long Bush on Tortola or at the Virgin Gorda branch. When visiting an office, customers must present one valid form of identification, such as a National Health Insurance card, a valid driver's licence, or a passport.

For those unable to visit in person, BVIEC has established an online submission portal on its official website. Customers opting for the online route are required to use their National Health Insurance number as their primary form of identification to verify their account details.

Property owners and landlords managing multiple accounts are strongly advised to visit the Long Bush office directly. BVIEC notes that an in-person visit ensures records across several properties can be reviewed and updated efficiently without administrative delays. All residents and business owners throughout the territory are urged to update their account information as soon as possible.

For additional details or assistance, customers can reach the BVIEC Customer Service Department by telephone at 852-4600 or via email at customerservices@bvielectricity.com.
