BVIEC Seeks Qualified Cybersecurity Officer
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation is inviting applications for the position of Cybersecurity Officer to safeguard its digital networks and critical infrastructure. The role focuses on identifying cyber risks, monitoring threat activity, and maintaining compliance across the Territory's power grid systems. Interested applicants must submit their credentials by November 16, 2026.
The British Virgin Islands Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) has announced an opening for a Cybersecurity Officer to protect the Territory's vital power utility infrastructure against modern digital threats. The position is based within the corporation's Information Technology Department and plays a central role in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical systems and customer data.
As public utilities worldwide face increasing exposure to digital vulnerabilities, the Cybersecurity Officer will be responsible for identifying risks, monitoring internal and external traffic patterns, and implementing mitigation strategies. Key responsibilities include administering core security tools such as firewalls, endpoint protection systems, and artificial intelligence-driven monitoring platforms.
The selected candidate will also coordinate vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and incident response operations. In addition to technical monitoring, the role demands compliance oversight for industry standards and regulatory frameworks, including payment card processing security protocols.
The officer will prepare risk assessment reports, develop internal security awareness initiatives for staff, and travel to the Sister Islands as necessary to support corporate operations across the Virgin Islands. To be considered for the role, applicants must hold an Associate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
Candidates should possess a minimum of two to three years of professional experience in an information technology environment, with hands-on experience supporting and maintaining networks, operating systems, and technology infrastructure. Essential technical skills for the post include security operations, threat detection, access control administration, and comprehensive incident management.
The position is primarily office-based, though duties may occasionally require work outside standard business hours depending on operational demands. Remuneration will be commensurate with the successful applicant's qualifications and professional experience. Interested candidates must submit their application package online through the BVIEC career portal.
Submissions must include a formal cover letter, updated resume, two professional references, two personal references, a recent police certificate, certified copies of academic diplomas, and a recent passport-sized photograph. The application window officially closes on November 16, 2026.
