The BVI Ports Authority marked a historic milestone during its 35th Anniversary Gala by officially naming Ms. Reba Evans as its first-ever BVIPA Ambassador. The announcement was made during an evening of celebration and reflection held at Prime Restaurant, bringing together staff, industry stakeholders, and government officials.

Evans will serve as a key representative for the Authority throughout the year. She will participate in selected conferences, community events, and official engagements designed to strengthen ties between the maritime authority and the wider Virgin Islands public. Evans was awarded an all-expenses-paid cruise for two.

Officials noted that the initiative introduces an impactful new dimension to the Authority's outreach and brand visibility. The gala also served as an occasion to honor foundational contributors who helped steer the organisation across its three-and-a-half decades of service. Creque, former Deputy Managing Director, and Mrs.

Myrthlyn Hodge, former Financial Comptroller. Both were commended for their dedicated leadership, service, and enduring impact on the development of the Territory's port infrastructure. The anniversary celebrations capped off the Authority's inaugural PortVision conference, hosted at Maria's by the Sea under the theme "Innovation and Sustainability in Seaport Operations." The two-day forum gathered regional partners, maritime professionals, and local business leaders to examine key challenges and opportunities in the sector.

Discussions during the conference addressed port modernization, digital technology, maritime security, trade facilitation, customer experience, and environmental resilience. Panelists underscored the vital role seaports play as economic enablers for the Virgin Islands, emphasizing the need for continuous investment in modern infrastructure, strategic partnerships, and workforce development.

According to the BVI Ports Authority, the PortVision conference laid a strong foundation to become a recurring regional forum for maritime dialogue. Looking beyond its 35th year, the Authority reaffirmed its commitment to service excellence, operational resilience, and driving sustainable economic and social growth across the Territory.
