Bvipa Seeks Bids for Server Upgrade
The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority has issued an RFP for a new server infrastructure to modernise its IT systems, improve operational efficiency and strengthen cyber and operational resilience across port facilities. Interested vendors can attend a virtual pre-tender meeting on 29 July 2026 and must deliver sealed proposals by 10:00 a.m. on 31 August 2026.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola — The British Virgin Islands Ports Authority (BVIPA) has issued a Request for Proposal inviting qualified vendors to supply and implement a new server infrastructure system as part of a wider push to modernise its core information technology systems. The project covers server hardware, related software and implementation services.
BVIPA says the upgrade is intended to strengthen technological capacity, improve operational efficiency and enhance the secure delivery of services across its port facilities and administrative operations. The Authority also notes the need for a robust, scalable environment that can support current operations and future digital and business requirements.
For BVI residents and businesses, the upgrade could lead to more reliable port operations that affect cargo handling, vessel scheduling, passenger services and back-office functions such as billing and records management. Improved server infrastructure may also reduce downtime during peak periods and support better disaster recovery and continuity planning in the event of storms or infrastructure failures.
Interested vendors are invited to a virtual pre-tender meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 29 July 2026 at 10:00 a.m. The session will provide further detail on technical requirements and the procurement process and is an opportunity for bidders to seek clarification before preparing proposals.
Completed proposals must be submitted in sealed envelopes and delivered to the Acting Managing Director at the British Virgin Islands Ports Authority no later than 10:00 a.m. on Monday, 31 August 2026. BVIPA has made clear that late submissions will not be considered. The Authority has encouraged eligible suppliers to participate to ensure transparency, competitiveness and value for money in public procurement.
