Offshore law firm Carey Olsen has donated to five non-profit organisations in the British Virgin Islands to mark Emancipation Festival and the close of its financial year. The recipients were selected through a client and staff voting initiative conducted in lieu of holiday corporate gifts. The firm also provided cultural sponsorship and highlighted its ongoing multi-year community partnerships across the Territory.
Offshore law firm Carey Olsen (BVI) L.P. has reaffirmed its commitment to the British Virgin Islands community by distributing charitable donations to five local non-profit organisations. The financial support was disbursed to commemorate the annual Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival and to mark the conclusion of the firm's financial year.
The recipient charities were chosen through a collaborative voting initiative that engaged Carey Olsen staff and clients. Rather than distributing traditional corporate holiday gifts to business partners, the law firm invited stakeholders to vote for local causes they wished to support, directing corporate resources back into grassroots community development.
The organisations receiving the highest number of votes and subsequent funding were PAW BVI, M.A.L.E., the Family Support Network (FSN), Breast Friends, and Creative Waves. Together, these entities address critical social needs across the Territory, ranging from animal welfare and youth empowerment to family assistance, breast cancer advocacy, and creative arts education.
In addition to the five selected charities, Carey Olsen extended financial support to the non-profit group BVI Optimum Skydancers. The contribution was aimed at helping to preserve and celebrate Virgin Islands cultural heritage during the festive Emancipation period. The law firm noted that these contributions reflect a broader, ongoing corporate social responsibility strategy focused on sustainable community investment throughout the Virgin Islands.
