Caribbean Airlines has completed its audited financial statements for 2017, 2018 and 2019, marking a significant step in the airline’s efforts to strengthen transparency, financial accountability and governance across the organisation. The update was presented at Caribbean Airlines’ 9th Annual General Meeting, held on September 22 at the airline’s head office in Piarco, Trinidad.

The airline said it is also making progress toward completing its remaining outstanding audits. The audited financial statements for 2020 are targeted for completion by the end of October 2026, while the financial statements for the years 2021 through 2025 are on schedule for completion.

Caribbean Airlines said bringing the outstanding financial statements up to date represents a major milestone in the Board’s oversight and its commitment to the airline’s long-term sustainability. The move is also expected to reinforce accountability and transparency to shareholders, stakeholders and the public.

Chairman of Caribbean Airlines, Reyna Kowlessar, said the work to clear the backlog is central to the airline’s efforts to strengthen its operations and position the company for future growth. “Bringing the airline’s audited financial statements up to date, following an inherited nine-year backlog, is an essential part of our focus on rebuilding, growing and positioning Caribbean Airlines for lasting success.

We thank our employees for the work completed to date and for their continued dedication as we rebuild the airline. Our focus remains on creating a stronger organisation that can grow responsibly, deliver reliable service and achieve long-term operational and financial success.” The airline said the progress on the outstanding audits forms part of a broader programme aimed at strengthening its viability and operational performance.

The work comes as the global aviation industry continues to face cost pressures, including increases in fuel prices, which remain a significant expense for airlines.
