Just six months after Caribbean Airlines relaunched its route between Fort Lauderdale and Montego Bay after a long hiatus, the carrier is cutting it again. It’s part of a broader reduction that will see the removal of both Fort Lauderdale-Kingston roundtrip and Fort Lauderdale-Montego Bay roundtrip. “It was determined that current economic conditions impacting the Jamaica-Fort Lauderdale market require the airline to reallocate resources,” the carrier said in a statement sent to Caribbean Journal. “This decision supports the company’s long-term objectives of fleet efficiency, cost management and delivering reliable service to its valued customers.” The flights will stop service beginning Sunday, Nov. 2.
Caribbean Airlines said customers with confirmed bookings on any of the canceled flights would receive a full refund of their fares. If you’re looking to fly between South Florida and Montego Bay, you can still fly on Spirit and JetBlue out of Fort Lauderdale and American Airlines (out of Miami).
Spirit and JetBlue also fly between Fort Lauderdale and Jamaica.
