Two brothers, identified as 30-year-old Yordani Eduardo and 25-year-old Delli Eduardo, were fatally shot in Castle Coakley in the pre-dawn hours Sunday, the Virgin Islands Police Department said. The killings — one victim pronounced at the scene and the other later at Juan Luis Hospital — bring the USVI's 2026 homicide total to 30, and investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward.
CROIX — Two brothers were killed in a pre-dawn shooting in Castle Coakley early Sunday, authorities confirmed, in an incident that has pushed the U.S. Virgin Islands’ reported homicide total for 2026 to 30. The Virgin Islands Police Department identified the victims as 30-year-old Yordani Eduardo and his 25-year-old brother Delli Eduardo; their identities were later confirmed by next of kin, VINO reported.
Croix 911 Emergency Call Center received multiple calls at approximately 4:13 a.m. reporting two gunshot victims in the vicinity of La Terraza Bar and Restaurant. VIPD Director of Communications Glen Dratte said officers and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to the scene, where they found one of the brothers lying on the ground, unresponsive, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the upper body.
That victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Dratte said. The second brother was taken by private vehicle to Juan Luis Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead, VIPD reported. VIPD’s Criminal Investigation Bureau has opened an active probe and is treating the incident as a double homicide.
Authorities have not released a motive or named any suspects, and no arrests have been reported. Investigators continue to process the scene and pursue leads; VIPD said additional information will be released as it becomes available. With Sunday morning’s killings included, St. Croix now accounts for 17 of the territory’s 30 homicides recorded so far in 2026, while St.
Thomas accounts for 13, according to VIPD and territory reporting compiled by VINO. Earlier in the year, three homicides reported on a single day in June raised the territory’s toll to 20, at which point the count was evenly split between the two main islands. VIPD is asking anyone who was in the Castle Coakley area around the time of the shooting, or who may have information that could assist investigators, to contact 911 or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
VINO notes that Crime Stoppers may offer a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest in active investigations. The killings have renewed local concerns about public safety and gun violence across the territory. Residents and visitors are being reminded to stay aware of their surroundings, particularly late at night, and to heed local safety advisories.
Two families are now grieving as detectives work to establish what led to the attack. This article integrates statements from the Virgin Islands Police Department and its communications director, and reporting from local outlets including VINO; the VIPD continues to ask anyone with information to come forward as detectives pursue leads in the case.
