Chamber Celebrates Global Entrepreneurship Week
The BVI Chamber of Commerce will mark Global Entrepreneurship Week with a special focus on female business leaders, recognising three local women on Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Wednesday 19 November 2025. The Chamber will also air daily entrepreneurial tips on ZBVI Radio and share stories across its website and Facebook to inspire and support businesses across the territory.
The BVI Chamber of Commerce has announced plans to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) with activities designed to spotlight local innovators and encourage new business creation across the territory. As part of the week-long programme, the Chamber will recognise three dynamic female entrepreneurs on Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, Wednesday, 19 November 2025, and will feature their stories prominently on its social media channels.
GEW provides a global platform for storytelling, events and community engagement that supports people who turn ideas into action. The Chamber said the three women chosen for recognition represent the determination, leadership, resilience and creativity shaping the Virgin Islands’ business community, and that their profiles are intended to motivate the next generation of female business leaders. “The entrepreneurial spirit of the Virgin Islands is second to none,” said Shaina Smith-Archer, Chairman of the BVI Chamber of Commerce. “From every corner of our community, you will find vision, determination and creativity, people who seize opportunities, build businesses, and strengthen our economy.
GEW gives us a platform to honour that spirit and to inspire the next generation to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.” In addition to social media features, the Chamber will share daily “Tips for Entrepreneurs” on The Almanac on ZBVI Radio throughout the week. These short segments aim to offer practical guidance for both emerging and established business owners—covering topics such as accessing support, marketing, financial management and resilience planning.
For BVI residents, entrepreneurship remains central to efforts to diversify and strengthen the local economy, which is heavily reliant on tourism and financial services. Small businesses and start-ups provide jobs, preserve local character, and help communities recover and adapt following storms and other shocks.
The Chamber said its GEW activities are part of a broader remit to provide training, advocacy and networking opportunities that enable businesses of all sizes to thrive.
