Cibc Walk For The Cure Set October
The 14th annual CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure is scheduled for October 3, starting from the bank's Road Town branch. Organisers are encouraging widespread community participation as the Rotary Club of Tortola joins to offer cancer screenings.
The Virgin Islands community is gearing up for the 14th annual CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure, which is officially scheduled to take place on October 3. The long-running charity event brings together residents, corporate partners, and advocates to raise awareness and critical funding for cancer support services across the territory.
Hosted by CIBC Caribbean in collaboration with the BVI Cancer Society and supported by local business sponsors, the walk will kick off at 5:30 AM from the bank's Road Town branch. Participants will depart from the bank's car park, walking along the picturesque waterfront route to Ebenezer Thomas Primary School in Sea Cows Bay before making their way back to the starting point in Road Town.
Registration forms are currently available for interested individuals and corporate teams at both the CIBC Caribbean Road Town branch and the BVI Cancer Society office. Organisers are urging early registration to ensure maximum community turnout and support. The annual walk has become a cornerstone of local health advocacy and charitable giving.
During last year's campaign, generous contributions from sponsors, community supporters, and registered participants raised $75,000. These funds directly enable the BVI Cancer Society to provide comprehensive assistance to patients and their families, covering essential needs such as access to medication, medical treatment, travel assistance for overseas care, counselling, and educational outreach programmes.
The campaign also contributes to ongoing efforts to establish a national cancer registry for the Virgin Islands. This year, the initiative receives an added boost through a partnership with the Rotary Club of Tortola. Club members will participate on site by offering educational resources and health screenings for breast, prostate, colon, and cervical cancers, which represent the most prevalent forms of the disease diagnosed within the territory.
Organisers have issued a rallying call to the public to support this worthy cause. Emphasising the collective impact of the community, organisers noted that every step counts in strengthening cancer awareness, prevention, and support services across the Virgin Islands.
