St. Kitts and Nevis Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley has assumed the role of Acting Prime Minister following the transfer of Dr. Terrance Drew abroad for specialized medical observation. The government confirmed that Dr. Drew remains in stable condition while temporary ministerial assignments ensure the uninterrupted operation of the state.
Geoffrey Hanley has officially stepped in as Acting Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, taking charge of government business while Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew undergoes specialized medical care overseas. The administrative adjustment follows the admission of Dr. France General Hospital on Sunday evening after he experienced mild discomfort, nausea, and a headache.
Following comprehensive assessments and diagnostic evaluations during an 18-hour observation period, treating physicians confirmed that the Prime Minister remained awake, alert, and in stable condition. However, out of an abundance of caution, his medical team recommended that he be transferred overseas for continued observation and precautionary monitoring.
To ensure seamless governance, the Cabinet announced key temporary reassignments. In addition to his existing portfolios, Dr. Hanley has assumed the duties of Prime Minister, while Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs Garth Wilkin has taken on responsibility for the Ministry of National Security, Citizenship, and Immigration.
