Eaps to Chalwell Road Closed Weekend
A weekend road closure will affect motorists between Enis Adams Primary School and the Chalwell Estate entrance as crews complete the Diamond Estate to Chalwell Estate pipe-laying project. The work, which will finish roughly 5,800 feet of HDPE pipe to improve water service and reliability, is being overseen by the Ministry of Communications and Works with assistance from Operators Without Borders.
Motorists and residents are being warned that a section of road between Enis Adams Primary School (EAPS) and the Chalwell Estate entrance will be closed on Saturday, November 15, 2025, and Sunday, November 16, 2025, to allow crews to complete a major pipe-laying operation. The Diamond Estate to Chalwell Estate project involves installation of approximately 5,800 feet of High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipe to enhance water service and reliability between Diamond Estate and the Chalwell Estate/Soldier Hill junction.
The Ministry of Communications and Works is managing and overseeing the works, with volunteer support on site from Operators Without Borders. Greenaway, Communication Specialist for the Ministry, said in a Facebook Live update that the project is in its final phase. "Work has reached the home stretch in the Diamond Estate to Chalwell Estate Pipe Laying Project, with 5,300 feet of the 5,800 feet of pipe laid," he said.
He added that crews will begin work on the remaining roughly 500 feet at 9:00 AM on Saturday, November 15, and will continue into the evening and restart on Sunday. To facilitate the work and ensure safety, motorists are asked to avoid the section of road between the entrance to Enis Adams School and the entrance to Chalwell Estate on the stated dates.
Mr Greenaway urged drivers to use alternative routes: motorists travelling from Ke Villas in Carrot Bay should use the Ayres Falls or Soldier Hill/Brewers Bay routes into town, while those who would normally use Joe's Hill are advised to take the Hana Hill/Threadfall route instead.
Parents, school staff and commuters should factor the closure into travel plans for the weekend and be prepared for changes to local traffic patterns. While the Ministry has not publicly disclosed the specific cost or budget for the project, officials say the upgrade will improve distribution and reliability for households and businesses served by the affected mains.
