The British Virgin Islands are set to foster young talent and bolster its financial and tourism sectors through the Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme and the newly launched Barefoot Trainer Hospitality Series. In an exciting development for the British Virgin Islands' youth, BVI Finance, in partnership with the Ministry of Financial Services, Economic Development and Digital Transformation, has announced the return of the Tomorrow’s Leaders Internship Programme. This initiative, following a highly successful inaugural year, is designed to equip tertiary-level students with vital work experience and insights into the financial services industry, thereby fostering the development of future decision-makers and professionals.
Running from May to September 2025, the programme offers local college and university students, as well as BVI students studying abroad, the chance to immerse themselves in real-world financial services environments across various domains such as Accounting, Banking, Compliance, and more.
Highlighting the programme’s success, BVI Finance CEO Elise Donovan and Premier Dr. the Hon. Wheatley have both underscored its pivotal role in nurturing young talent and ensuring the sustainability of the BVI's financial services sector. With applications set to open on February 3rd, 2025, this initiative stands as a testament to the BVI’s commitment to its youth and the financial services industry's prosperity.
In a parallel development, the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board & Film Commission (BVITBFC) has unveiled the launch of the Barefoot Trainer Hospitality Series, set to commence on 22nd October 2025 in Virgin Gorda. This marks a significant stride in the BVI's tourism sector, now officially recognized as a ministry.
The BVITBFC’s strategic agreement with Barefoot Trainer aims to enhance the territory's hospitality offerings by providing specialized training and development opportunities, a move that promises to elevate the service standards within the tourism industry. These initiatives collectively signify the BVI’s strategic focus on comprehensive economic development and professional growth for its residents.
