The British Virgin Islands can expect predominantly fair and warm weather today as stable atmospheric conditions prevail across the Territory, according to the latest update from the Department of Disaster Management. A persistent high-pressure system remains dominant over the northeastern Caribbean, effectively limiting the development of significant shower activity.
Throughout the day, residents and visitors will experience sunny periods mixed with occasional cloud cover. There remains a modest 30 percent chance of brief morning showers, though most areas are expected to stay dry. Daytime temperatures are projected to reach a high of approximately 87 degrees Fahrenheit (31 degrees Celsius).
Winds are forecast from the east-southeast at 7 to 14 miles per hour (11 to 23 kilometres per hour), while marine conditions remain slight to moderate with seas running between 3 and 4 feet (0.9 to 1.2 metres). Tonight, conditions will remain partly cloudy with a few passing clouds and a minor 20 percent chance of isolated showers.
Overnight temperatures are expected to stay warm, accompanied by gentle to moderate east-southeasterly breezes and calm marine waters. While conditions across the Virgin Islands remain pleasant, disaster management officials remind the public that warm temperatures present a risk of heat-related illnesses.
Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during the peak midday and early afternoon hours, requires practical precautions. Residents and visitors spending time outdoors are encouraged to drink plenty of water throughout the day, wear light-coloured and loose-fitting clothing, and utilize protective sun gear such as hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
Authorities also emphasize that children, elderly individuals, and pets must never be left unattended in parked vehicles. Mariners and boaters are advised to exercise normal caution while enjoying the local waters.
