In a statement on Sunday, September 28, 2025, the RVIPF addressed the misinformation circulating in the public and on social media regarding the incident in the East End area. The statement confirmed, "The incident, which occurred approximately at 8:30 pm, involved two vehicles. Contrary to the false reports, this was not a fatal accident.
One individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to Dr Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment." The RVIPF also noted that the other person involved in the incident is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. This individual was also transported to the hospital for assessment.
A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently underway. Furthermore, the RVIPF firmly stated that there were no fatal hit-and-run accidents reported anywhere in the Territory on September 27, 2025. "The information being circulated to the contrary is completely false," the RVIPF emphasised.
The RVIPF urged Virgin Islanders to refrain from spreading unverified reports, as this can cause unnecessary alarm and distress within the community.
