Seniors Edition This Sunday
Three senior groups will compete in Family Feud: Seniors Edition at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium this Sunday as part of the Virgin Islands’ 37th Senior Citizens’ Month, themed 'Champion Your Health'. The Virgin Islands will celebrate a lively highlight of Senior Citizens’ Month this Sunday when three senior groups take the stage for Family Feud: Seniors Edition at the Eileene L. Lavity Stoutt Community Campus in Paraquita Bay. The activity is part of the 37th-anniversary observance of Senior Citizens’ Month, held under the theme "Champion Your Health." Organisers say the month has included youth engagements, a Seniors’ Luncheon in Virgin Gorda, a sports day and other activities designed to honour and uplift seniors across the territory.
Family Feud: Seniors Edition promises an afternoon of energy, laughs and friendly rivalry. The competing teams are: Orange Team: Carrot Bay Senior Engagement Programme (Crème of the Crops) Green Team: OASIS Seniors Programme Red Team: East End/Long Look Senior Engagement Programme (Rising Sun) The game begins at 4:00 PM.
Tickets are on sale at J&C Trading Ltd. and cost $15 for adults and $5 for children. Residents are encouraged to come out, support local seniors and enjoy a community-focused entertainment event that celebrates the experience and humour of older islanders. This weekend’s event is one of several activities planned through the remainder of the month.
An Anegada Seniors’ Luncheon and Social is scheduled for Monday, May 25 at Big Bamboo Restaurant, starting at 10:00 AM. An Open House at the Adina Donovan Home for the Elderly will follow on May 27 at 10:00 AM. Senior Citizens’ Month will conclude with the Champion Your Health Parade and Wellness Fair on May 29.
The parade will begin at 10:00 AM at the roundabout in Road Town and proceed to Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park, where health and wellness vendors and activities will be on hand. Organisers say the month-long calendar is intended to promote health, social engagement and intergenerational connections across the territory.
With a mix of social events, outreach and lighthearted competition, the celebrations aim to recognise seniors’ contributions while encouraging residents of all ages to champion healthy living.
