During the National Democratic Party’s radio show, NDP Radio, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Mrs Flax-Charles said Anegadians have been waiting almost two decades for the road to be fixed. “Contracts were signed years ago,” she said. Work began in September 2026 District Nine Representative Hon Vincent O.

Wheatley gave an update on the roadworks in September 2026. Hon Wheatley said approximately 4,800 linear feet of roadway will be paved with concrete along the route toward Cow Wreck in four phases. The first phase is covering approximately 1,200 linear feet of roadway. Mrs Flax-Charles, however, seems to be displeased with the pace of work.

Commenting on the roadworks, she said, “Now, on September 11, I don’t know if that was some sort of omen; they carried over truckloads with gravel and with whatever else, and today is the 28th [of October].” She added that with the materials placed on the site for the works, people can hardly drive by, vehicles’ tyres get damaged and said one tourist fell off a scooter on the road. “The road is not fixed yet.” Hoping something will happen before Lobster Fest While Mrs Flax-Charles expressed her disappointment with the project’s pace, she is still hoping significant improvement could be made soon. “We’re hoping that something will happen before Lobster Fest.

These little things when it comes to maintenance; that road on Anegada should not still be there to be fixed.” She added that most, if not all, of the workers are willing and able, “But they’re not receiving what they need to execute their job,” she accused.
