Francis Jr Completes Cfu Youth Workshop
Stany Francis Jr has completed the CFU Elite Youth Coaches Workshop in Punta Cana, gaining advanced training from coach educators John Peacock and Callum Irving. The BVIFA says the accreditation is a key step in strengthening youth football development in the Virgin Islands as Francis leads the U14 national side at the CFU Challenge Series in Santo Domingo.
Stany Francis Jr, head coach of Panthers FC, has completed the Caribbean Football Union's (CFU) Elite Youth Coaches Workshop held in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The programme, led by renowned coach educators John Peacock and Callum Irving, delivered detailed instruction and insights aimed at enhancing elite youth player development across the region.
According to the BVI Football Association (BVIFA), Francis’s participation represents another important step in strengthening youth football development in the Virgin Islands. The workshop focused on methods and best practices for nurturing young talent, equipping coaches with updated coaching methodologies, talent identification approaches and frameworks for long-term player development.
Francis is already heavily involved in the BVI pathway: he serves as Head Coach of Panthers FC, one of the territory’s prominent clubs, and was recently appointed Head Coach of the BVI National Under-14 Boys Team. The national U14 squad is currently in Santo Domingo taking part in the CFU U14 Boys Challenge Series, and BVIFA said the coach’s recent training will directly benefit the team’s preparation and coaching structure during the tournament.
For BVI residents, the workshop’s impact extends beyond a single coach’s resume. Improved coach education raises the standard of training available to young players at club and national levels, strengthens local academy structures and helps create clearer pathways for talented players to progress to higher-age national teams and regional competitions.
BVIFA has made coach development a priority as part of broader efforts to grow the sport domestically and compete more effectively in Caribbean competitions. John Peacock and Callum Irving are respected figures in regional coach education, and their involvement underscores the CFU’s commitment to raising coaching standards across member associations.
BVIFA encouraged other local coaches to pursue similar opportunities, saying capacity-building initiatives are essential to long-term success. BVIFA will continue to provide updates on the U14 team’s results in Santo Domingo and on further coach development activities. The association said it hopes that newly acquired knowledge from workshops like this will translate into stronger performances on the field and more opportunities for young BVI footballers to thrive at regional tournaments.
