Government Launches VI Talent Connect Programme
The Government of the Virgin Islands has launched VI Talent Connect to recruit qualified Virgin Islanders and Belongers for key leadership roles in the Public Service. Managed by the Department of Human Resources, the initiative creates a dedicated talent pipeline targeting both local professionals and those living in the diaspora. The programme offers tailored support and relocation guidance to help locals transition into critical public sector vacancies.
The Government of the Virgin Islands has officially launched VI Talent Connect, a strategic recruitment programme managed by the Department of Human Resources aimed at placing qualified Virgin Islanders and Belongers into key leadership and specialised positions across the Public Service.
Designed to address current and upcoming workforce demands, VI Talent Connect establishes a proactive talent pipeline encompassing experienced professionals, recent graduates, and students. The initiative combines targeted outreach, personalised engagement, and end-to-end candidate assistance to fill critical, senior, and hard-to-staff roles within the territory's administration.
Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Sharleen DaBreo-Lettsome, MBE, highlighted the necessity of succession planning as seasoned public officers approach retirement. She noted that the initiative provides a structured mechanism to identify institutional needs and intentionally connect with qualified Virgin Islanders and Belongers who possess valuable expertise, whether acquired locally or internationally.
According to Acting Deputy Director of Human Resources, Ms. Cara Christopher, the programme recognizes that high-calibre professionals are not always actively seeking employment at the precise moment vacancies arise. She explained that the Department aims to maintain ongoing communication and support from initial outreach through to the candidate's first day on the job, creating clear pathways for citizens to serve their home territory.
Beyond advertising specific high-priority vacancies, VI Talent Connect is set to provide prospective applicants with detailed insight into public sector career pathways, compensation packages, and recruitment guidelines. For professionals currently residing abroad, the programme will also offer practical guidance and resources regarding relocation and reintegration into the territory.
