Heida Selwood Confirmed as Deputy Chief Education

The British Virgin Islands Ministry of Education, Youth Affairs, and Sports has announced the confirmation of Mrs. Heida Selwood as the new Deputy Chief Education Officer, a role she will officially step into in June 2024. Having initially served in an acting capacity, Mrs. Selwood's appointment is a testament to her invaluable contributions to the educational sector. Her career in the Virgin Islands spans various key roles, including Teacher, Head of Department, and Assistant Principal (Ag.) at the Bregado Flax Educational Centre.
Selwood's experience is bolstered by her seven-year tenure as an Education Officer, during which she demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to enhancing educational standards. Selwood will play a crucial role in the administration and management of the Department of Education, focusing on maintaining and developing educational standards across learning institutions in the Virgin Islands.
Her responsibilities will extend to supervising and monitoring the administration, inventories, and security of schools, as well as overseeing student admissions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
