BVI's Public Meetings to Empower Local Businesses
In an effort to bolster the economic landscape of the Virgin Islands, the Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs is hosting a series of public meetings aimed at enhancing collaboration between public agencies, businesses, and the community. The British Virgin Islands are on the brink of an economic revitalization, thanks to a series of public meetings orchestrated by the Department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs. Following the success of earlier gatherings, four additional meetings are scheduled for September. These sessions will cover critical topics such as the trade-licensing process, strategic collaborations with educational institutions, grant programs for small and medium-sized enterprises, and planned school outreach initiatives to promote entrepreneurship among the youth.
The initiative also includes discussions on the Innovation Business Lab and the Entrepreneurial Zone, both of which are designed to foster a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the territory. The inaugural meeting, held in the Fifth District, offered a comprehensive overview of the department's strategic initiatives and ongoing projects. 'Attendees engaged directly with the department’s representatives and gained valuable insights into its development agenda,' a department press release stated.
Subsequent meetings have taken place over the past eight days in the First, Second, and Ninth districts, including on Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke, drawing a diverse crowd of entrepreneurs, business stakeholders, and interested residents. The government's open invitation to these sessions emphasizes the importance of community involvement in shaping a prosperous economic future for the Virgin Islands.
The next meeting is slated for the Eighth District at Willard Wheatley Primary School in East End, with three more gatherings to follow in various districts through early September.
