FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ereia Smith Makes History as BVI Athletics' First NACAC-Certified Technical Manager. Road Town, Tortola, British Virgin Islands – BVI Athletics is celebrating a historic milestone following the successful completion of the NACAC Technical Managers Certification Course by Ereia Smith in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, from 13-18 October 2026.

Smith becomes the first official from the British Virgin Islands to earn the prestigious Technical Manager designation under the standards of NACAC and World Athletics, a major achievement for both the official and the federation. The certification formally qualifies Smith to inspect competition facilities, manage and inspect competition implements and equipment, and oversee athletics events at the regional and international levels. "This is a significant step forward for athletics in the Virgin Islands," said BVI Athletics President Steve Augustine. "Having our first NACAC-certified Technical Manager strengthens our ability to deliver world-class competitions and support the continued growth of the sport." Smith's accomplishment represents another important milestone in the development of officiating in the British Virgin Islands and reinforces BVI Athletics' commitment to excellence both on and off the field.

The BVIAA extends congratulations to Ereia on this milestone accomplishment. (Pictured: L-R Juan Josué Morales Acosta, Course Instructor, Ereia Smith, Vice president, Dominican Republic Federation) #Technicalmanager #bviathletics #ereiasmith #bviaa
