Indian Law Society Hosts VI Trade Delegation
A high-level Virgin Islands trade delegation visiting India was officially hosted to a special luncheon by the Society of Indian Law Firms in New Delhi. Led by Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley and Junior Minister Lorna Smith, the mission aims to expand financial services ties. The engagement forms part of the territory's inaugural week-long trade mission to the South Asian nation.
The Virgin Islands' inaugural trade mission to India marked another key milestone this week as delegates were officially hosted to a reception and luncheon by the Society of Indian Law Firms at The LaLit in New Delhi. According to an official update from the Office of the Premier, Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio D.
Wheatley expressed deep appreciation to the organisation for the generous invitation, warm hospitality, and carefully curated programme designed to foster closer bilateral professional connections. Wheatley highlighted the grace of the hosts and the high level of professionalism displayed by the Indian legal fraternity during the engagement.
Running from August 24 to August 31, 2026, the trade mission serves as a strategic initiative to promote the British Virgin Islands as a premier international business centre and strengthen financial services ties with one of the world's fastest-growing major economies. The high-level delegation comprises senior government officials, regulatory authorities, and industry stakeholders.
Joining Premier Wheatley on the mission is Honourable Lorna G. Smith, OBE, Junior Minister for Financial Services and Economic Development; Kenneth B. Baker, CEO and Managing Director of the BVI Financial Services Commission; and Rhodni A. Skelton, Director of Marketing and Business Development at BVI Finance.
Key policy, diplomatic, and technical officers are also supporting the mission, including Acting Director of the International Affairs Secretariat Dwynel D. Davis, Director of Financial Services Ayana I. Glasgow, Acting Director of Communications Kareem Nelson-Hull, and Private Secretary Xyrah Wheatley.
The BVI Hong Kong Office is playing an active role in the mission, represented by Director Dr. Flax, and Political Economy Analysts Kyla K. Grant, alongside private sector participants.
