interCaribbean Launches Ogle Service
interCaribbean Airways has begun flights to Eugene F. Correia International Airport (Ogle) in Georgetown, Guyana, adding a more centrally located option for travellers alongside existing service to Cheddi Jagan International. The inaugural flight on December 11, led by the aircraft named "Spirit of Guyana," will be marked by a welcome ceremony with government and aviation officials.
interCaribbean Airways has launched scheduled service to Eugene F. Correia International Airport (Ogle) in Georgetown, Guyana, expanding its presence in the South American-Caribbean market and offering travellers a more centrally located arrival point in Guyana’s capital. The airline’s December 11 inaugural flight to Ogle — celebrated with a special welcome ceremony expected to include government officials and aviation stakeholders — was led by an aircraft bearing the name and livery "Spirit of Guyana," featuring the Guyanese flag on its tail.
The launch fulfils a long-standing customer request for service to Ogle, which places passengers minutes from downtown Georgetown. "We've listened to our customers, and they've been asking for Ogle service," said Lyndon Gardiner, Chairman of interCaribbean Airways. "Flying into Ogle means our passengers are minutes from downtown Georgetown.
As we have expanded our ATR fleet, we're now able to deliver on this commitment - and what better way to launch this service than with the 'Spirit of Guyana' leading the way." interCaribbean will continue operating its existing flights to Cheddi Jagan International Airport, with Ogle now providing an additional option that improves convenience for travellers heading to or from central Georgetown.
Since launching Guyana services in December 2021, interCaribbean says it has become an important regional link for Guyanese passengers. For residents of the British Virgin Islands, the new Ogle service expands the range of regional connections available when using interCaribbean and other partner routes.
While interCaribbean does not currently serve Tortola directly, BVI travellers may find improved itineraries to Guyana and onward Caribbean destinations by connecting through established regional hubs in the airline’s network. interCaribbean is a privately owned, UK-flagged carrier headquartered in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Its mixed fleet includes Embraer ERJ145 regional jets, a Bombardier CRJ700 and several turboprops such as ATR72s and ATR42s. The airline serves 27 cities across 16 countries in the Caribbean, linking destinations from Georgetown and Barbados to Havana and Nassau. The addition of Ogle is expected to strengthen regional connectivity and provide more convenient travel options for business, family and leisure travellers across the Caribbean.
