Joanna Vass Named VP Bank BVI CEO
VP Bank (BVI) Ltd has appointed Joanna Vass as its new chief executive officer, succeeding Marcel Tschanz. The move, announced by VP Bank, is subject to approval by the BVI Financial Services Commission and signals continuity in leadership for the island's financial services hub.
VP Bank (BVI) Ltd has named Joanna Vass as its new chief executive officer, the bank announced in a press release. Vass succeeds Marcel Tschanz, who has led the local operation since August 2023 and will take on a new role with the wider VP Bank Group in September while remaining an active member of the BVI board.
Vass has worked at VP Bank (BVI) for more than eight years, joining the firm as a client advisor. Since January 2024 she has served as Head of Client Business and a member of the local management team, where she helped shape growth strategies and championed further development of the bank’s Virgin Islands operation.
VP Bank credited her extensive investment expertise with contributing significantly to the site’s growth in recent years. Adrian Schneider, a member of the Board of Directors of VP Bank (BVI) Ltd and Head of the Liechtenstein and BVI regions, said the bank was "delighted to have found an experienced and highly qualified successor in Joanna Vass who has been closely involved with VP Bank for many years." Schneider noted that Vass and Tschanz have already paved the way for continued growth in the BVI and thanked Tschanz for his commitment.
Vass expressed appreciation for the Group’s trust and said she looks forward to working with her team "to continue advancing VP Bank (BVI) Ltd." The bank added that Tschanz will continue to support the local site in his board role. The appointment remains subject to approval by the British Virgin Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC), the regulatory body overseeing financial services in the territory.
That regulatory review is standard for senior appointments at licensed financial institutions and is intended to ensure ongoing compliance with BVI financial rules and international standards. For BVI residents and clients, the leadership change signals continuity rather than a dramatic shift.
VP Bank (BVI) is one of several private banking and trust entities that contribute to the territory’s financial services sector, an important pillar of the local economy. Management continuity, internal promotion and ongoing ties to the VP Bank Group may reassure clients and staff as the bank pursues growth strategies in the islands.
The bank’s announcement did not specify an effective date for the CEO handover beyond the note that Tschanz will move to a Group role in September and remain on the local board pending the FSC decision.
