Kelberlin George Tops 5th Annual Adult Spell
Kelberlin George has won the 5th Annual Adult Spell Off Competition at HLSCC, claiming the championship trophy and an extensive prize package. The event also featured a competitive field of local participants, with proceeds selected to benefit the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School.
Kelberlin George emerged as the champion of the 5th Annual Adult Spell Off Competition, navigating through rounds of challenging vocabulary to capture the coveted title at the H. The annual competition brought together enthusiastic spellers and community supporters for an evening of friendly rivalry and educational entertainment.
Beyond the stage action, the event maintained a strong civic focus, with the Enid Scatliffe Pre-Primary School being drawn as the official beneficiary of this year's staging, ensuring that the contest directly supports early childhood education in the Territory. For her winning performance, George walked away with an impressive array of awards.
In addition to the official championship trophy and medal, she secured a $2,000 cash prize, round-trip airfare for two to Puerto Rico courtesy of Cape Air, and a two-night Airbnb getaway in Lambert. Her prize package also included a $200 shopping voucher, a $250 voucher from International Motors, and a comprehensive car-care package.
Competition remained fierce throughout the evening among the top contenders. Creque earned the second-place spot, taking home $1,000 in cash, a half-day sailing excursion with SKA Charters, a two-night stay for two at Leverick Bay, a $150 shopping voucher, a 50-inch television, and the second-place medal.
Greenaway rounded out the top tier in third place. Greenaway received a $750 cash award, a FlyBVI trip for four to Anegada, an Original Virgin Canopy Tour pass for four, a $100 shopping voucher, a 60-minute Ixora massage at Scrub Island Spa, and the official third-place medal. A talented slate of local contestants also challenged the podium finishers throughout the contest.
The roster of participating spellers included Tejo’n E.K. Forbes, Orion Joseph, Lebritnie Legair, Aimee Payne, Samantha Algeo, Sharlene S. All competitors were awarded $50 shopping vouchers in recognition of their participation and spirited effort. The Adult Spell Off continues to solidify its place on the Virgin Islands community calendar, offering residents an engaging platform that celebrates literacy while investing back into the education of the Territory's youngest learners.
