Legendary VI Bands Reunite in Carrot Bay
Iconic Virgin Islands musical groups The Bad Ones and Latitude Stars will take the stage for a special Saturday edition of Carrot Bay Cultural Thursdays on May 23. The community event will feature live classic performances, cultural games, local cuisine, and dedicated transport for Virgin Gorda residents.
Carrot Bay is set to come alive with nostalgia and musical heritage on Saturday, May 23, as two of the Territory's most celebrated legacy bands reunite for a special Saturday edition of Carrot Bay Cultural Thursdays. The Bad Ones will take patrons on a musical journey through the timeless classics that defined an era of Virgin Islands entertainment.
Formed during the late 1960s and early 1970s in East End, Tortola, the band was founded by the iconic Frett brothers and their friends, quickly rising to become one of the most beloved entertainment acts in the Territory. Known for their versatile catalog, The Bad Ones frequently covered international hits from legends like The Beatles, The Jackson 5, and The Rolling Stones, while also pioneering the introduction of emerging reggae sounds to local audiences.
Joining the lineup is Virgin Gorda powerhouse Latitude Stars, who will revive the vibrant musical identity of North Sound's "Musical City." Featuring founding member Clinton Farrington—who started performing with the group at just 15 years old—alongside Jerry and the crew, the band is set to deliver an energetic blend of smooth ballads, rhythm and blues, reggae, soca, and classic dance favorites that made them a staple across Virgin Gorda hotels and venues.
In addition to the historic musical performances, the special weekend event will offer a full slate of traditional cultural festivities for the entire family. A fresh market featuring local produce and goods opens at 3:00 p.m., followed by cultural games and races hosted by Shadow beginning at 4:00 p.m.
The live musical showcase will kick off with The Bad Ones taking the stage at 5:30 p.m., followed by Latitude Stars at 6:30 p.m. Organizers have arranged ground transportation to accommodate Virgin Gorda residents traveling to Tortola for the showcase.
