Lettsome Runs As At-Large Viia Candidate
Levor A.H. Lettsome has declared his candidacy for an At-Large seat in the next Virgin Islands general election, running under the VIIA banner and promising accountability, transparency and community-centred governance. A health services administrator and former BVIHSA human resources manager, Lettsome said his campaign will tackle long-standing economic stagnation and legislative neglect affecting households and businesses across the territory.
Lettsome announced he will contest the next general election as an At-Large candidate representing the VIIA, declaring a platform centred on accountability, transparency and community-focused governance. In a video posted to Facebook and reported by Virgin Islands News Online, Lettsome — who describes himself as a proud Virgin Islander with a background in health services administration — said he is running to “restore your voice, protect your hard-earned investments and reclaim the future of our country.” He urged residents to unite behind what he called a modern, strategic approach to governance that places people over politics.
Lettsome framed his campaign as a response to “decades of systemic neglect and economic stagnation” that have affected families and local businesses across the territory. He called for a legislative council that listens and for policies designed to break cycles of stagnation and uplift households and enterprises alike.
His announcement stressed a commitment to “fearlessness, accountability, and absolute transparency.” As an At-Large candidate, Lettsome will seek votes territory-wide rather than from a single district. Lettsome’s professional record includes service as Human Resources Manager at the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA). He was named in audit reports and related controversies in the past but was later vindicated through court rulings that resulted in apologies over earlier allegations.
His entry into formal politics as the first official VIIA candidate adds a new element to the BVI’s political field ahead of the upcoming election. He thanked supporters in his video and signalled that additional VIIA candidates will soon make their own official declarations as the party builds a broader progressive slate. “If you really want change, choose VIIA, your voice, your future, your choice,” he said.
