Lions Club Delivers 735 District Snack Boxes
The Valley Sound Lions Club and Leo Club delivered 735 snack boxes to students across Virgin Gorda and Anegada as part of their annual back-to-school outreach. The initiative supported youth at nine educational institutions across the Ninth District.
Students across the Ninth District received an uplifting boost for the start of the new academic year as the Valley Sound Lions Club, joined by the Valley Sound Leo Club, successfully distributed 735 snack boxes to youth across Virgin Gorda and Anegada. The community outreach project commenced on Sunday, September 6, when dedicated club members and volunteers gathered to assemble and package the care boxes.
Each parcel was filled with treats designed to support young learners as they stepped back into their classrooms. Distribution began on Monday, September 7, across Virgin Gorda, where volunteers visited early childhood centres, daycare facilities, and primary and secondary schools.
The team extended its outreach on Wednesday, September 9, journeying to Anegada to ensure students on the sister island were fully included in the initiative. In total, the outreach covered nine educational institutions across the district. Beneficiary institutions included the Bregado Flax Educational Centre Primary and Secondary Divisions, Robinson O’Neal Memorial Primary School, Ciboney Centre for Excellence, Little Rainbow Early Learning Center, Sunshine Daycare & Pre-School, NMFS Daycare & Preschool, Valley Day School, and the Claudia Creque Educational Centre on Anegada.
First launched in September 2021 to welcome students back following disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the outreach effort has evolved into a vital annual signature initiative for the club. It offers tangible, hands-on assistance to local families while fostering community solidarity.
The project also aligns with a major milestone for the Valley Sound Lions Club, which was founded in 1991 and is marking 35 years of continuous service to the community. Club leadership noted that the back-to-school delivery reflects a long-standing commitment to nurturing youth and addressing grassroots needs across the Sister Islands.
Club representatives expressed deep gratitude to the volunteers who gave their time over the weekend, the educators who welcomed the distribution teams into their schools, and the community partners who helped make the widespread project possible.
