Loaded Glock Falls During Chase
A man identified as Christian was arrested after a loaded Glock 19 fell from his waistband while he fled officers during a Rapid Response operation in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Police also recovered an unregistered .223 rifle with a 50-round drum magazine from a backpack in a nearby vehicle; Christian faces firearm and ammunition charges while rifle-related charges were not found to have probable cause.
A man identified as Christian was arrested after a loaded Glock 19 fell from his waistband during a foot chase with V.I. Police Department arrest report, officers encountered two men sitting near a maroon Acura RDX during a “Rapid Response” operation. When the men fled into a nearby gas station, police pursued.
Investigators say they ran through the station’s kitchen and exited out the building’s opposite side into an open parking lot. Police allege Christian ran toward a fence bordering land owned by the V.I. Officers observed him grabbing at his waist as he ran; his pants became caught on barbed wire as he attempted to clear the fence and a Glock 19 fell from his waistband onto the grass.
Pursuing officers threatened to deploy a Taser, after which Christian surrendered and was handcuffed and searched. A vehicle registration check linked the maroon Acura RDX to Christian, police said. Officers reported the driver’s side door was open and a black backpack lay on the ground nearby.
Inside the backpack they found what they described as a “high-powered rifle” equipped with a 50-round drum magazine. Investigators also recovered a loaded handgun magazine from the gas station kitchen floor. VIPD forensic technicians later determined the Glock 19 had been modified with a conversion chip that enabled automatic fire and was fitted with a fully loaded 32-round extended magazine.
The recovered .223 rifle was reported to have no identifiable serial numbers. Police say Christian did not hold a firearm license in the territory. Christian was arrested and charged with two counts of carrying a firearm and possession of ammunition. He appeared before Superior Court Magistrate Yolan Brow Ross for an advice of rights hearing; the court declined to find probable cause on the charges related to the rifle, but upheld the remaining charges linked to the handgun and ammunition.
Christian was permitted to post $2,500 in cash toward a $50,000 bail requirement, with the balance signed as an unsecured bond. He must remain under 24-hour house arrest with GPS monitoring and comply with standard release conditions. His next court date is set for September 2, 2026.
