Lyndon Hodge Appointed Water Department Director
Experienced telecommunications executive Lyndon A. Hodge has been appointed as the new Director of the Water and Sewerage Department. Mr. Hodge assumes leadership as the Territory navigates ongoing public water supply challenges and an impending organizational integration with the BVI Electricity Corporation. He succeeds Acting Director Von Alphonso, who is expected to revert to his role as Deputy Director.
Hodge has officially taken the helm as the new Director of the Water and Sewerage Department, stepping into the top administrative post amid critical infrastructure challenges and ongoing institutional reforms across the Virgin Islands. A seasoned Virgin Islander professional, Mr.
Hodge brings a wealth of executive leadership and management expertise to the public utility. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands and earned a postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Roehampton.
Prior to his appointment, he built an extensive career in the telecommunications sector, holding senior leadership positions at Caribbean Cellular Telephone and Cable & Wireless Flow BVI, where he previously served as Acting Chief Executive Officer. During his private sector career, he was responsible for overseeing major capital projects, human resource development, and financial operations.
Hodge succeeds Acting Director Von Alphonso, who is anticipated to revert to his substantive post as Deputy Director. The leadership transition comes at a pivotal time for the Territory's water distribution network. Residents in several communities across the islands continue to face chronic supply disruptions while the government works to address aging infrastructure, including compromised distribution pipes, storage reservoirs, and booster pumping systems.
In addition to addressing day-to-day service reliability, the new Director steps into office during a broader transition as the Water and Sewerage Department moves toward an integration with the BVI Electricity Corporation.
