A 39-year-old man from the Dominican Republic was arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery that took place outside a popular bar in Fat Hogs Bay over the weekend, BVI News understands. According to reports received by BVI News, police were alerted after a gunman allegedly approached a man sitting outside the establishment, pointed a firearm at him and demanded his gold chain.
The victim tried to run but fell; the assailant caught up, again pointed the weapon and removed gold chains from the man’s neck before fleeing the scene. Witnesses at the scene included a worker at the bar who reportedly witnessed the incident and provided information to officers.
The victim is said to have pleaded with the attacker not to shoot and ultimately escaped without being shot. It remains unclear whether the victim suffered injuries or lost additional belongings in the attack. Officers arrested the suspect on Saturday night and he reportedly remains in custody.
