Mozart 'Dexter' Peters Reported Missing
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has appealed for public assistance in locating Mozart Peters, 48, known as "Dexter," who was last seen in Free Bottom on August 17. Peters, described as a vulnerable adult, was wearing a white vest, light blue underpants and no shoes when he went missing.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has issued an urgent appeal after Mozart Peters, 48, also known as "Dexter," was reported missing from the Free Bottom area. Police say Peters was last seen on Monday, August 17, 2026, at about 11:00 PM and has not been heard from since.
Peters is considered a vulnerable adult who may require assistance. He is described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall, slim-built and dark-skinned. When last seen he was wearing a white vest and light blue underpants and was barefoot. "His family is very concerned about his well-being," the RVIPF said in a statement on August 19, 2026, urging anyone with information to come forward.
Residents are asked to contact 311, their nearest police station, or any member of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force if they have seen Peters or know his whereabouts. Community members in the Sixth District have responded quickly: a community search was scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM today, according to police.
Neighbourhood searches by residents often play a valuable role in missing-person cases, particularly when the person is vulnerable, and authorities say coordinated efforts with the RVIPF can increase the chances of a safe recovery. Police are asking residents to check local areas where someone might go without shoes, such as shoreline paths, public steps, underpasses and other common walking routes.
