NAGICO Insurances, in collaboration with the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) and a broad group of corporate partners, will stage the NAGICO Insurances 2 Mile Run/Walk With A Purpose on Saturday, June 6, 2026. The event will begin at 6:30 a.m. on the grounds of H. Lavity Stoutt Community College in Paraquita Bay and is designed to promote healthy living while raising funds for youth development across the Virgin Islands.
Managing Director of NAGICO Insurances, Shan Mohamed, said the company sees the event as part of its broader commitment to community investment. "At NAGICO, we believe corporate responsibility extends far beyond business. This event is about bringing people together for a meaningful cause while investing in the future of our young people through the Youth Empowerment Programme," Mohamed said, noting strong early support from corporate partners and the public.
Deputy Director of YEP, Bianca Dougan, expressed gratitude for the selection of YEP as a beneficiary. "We are truly honoured to have been chosen as recipients of the funds raised through this meaningful event. Initiatives like these not only promote health and community spirit, but also create real opportunities for young people to grow, develop and reach their full potential," Dougan said.
Organisers are urging residents, families, fitness enthusiasts and corporate teams to participate. Registration is available online at https://www.webscorer.com/register?raceid=423804 with an entry fee of $20; children aged 16 and under may take part free of charge. Each registered participant will receive an official race T-shirt and race bib, and prizes will be awarded.
Late registration will be accommodated between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. on the morning of the event. The Run/Walk is part of wider efforts in the BVI to raise awareness about youth empowerment while encouraging community engagement through fitness. For residents, the event offers a chance to support local youth programmes, improve personal health, and strengthen ties between businesses, civic groups and families in a visible community setting.
For more information, prospective participants can contact NAGICO Insurances at info@nagicobvi.com or telephone 1 (284) 542-0945. Organisers say volunteers and corporate teams remain welcome and that community support will be critical to maximising funds and opportunities for young people across the Virgin Islands.
