Pastor Rhymer to Launch New Book Sharing
Pastor Ethlyn Rhymer of Cane Garden Bay will launch her second book, Even There, on 29 December 2025 at 4:00pm at The Afflair Store in Road Town, in collaboration with the Government's Department of Culture. The new book turns inward to Rhymers personal health journey and is presented as a candid, faith-centred work intended to encourage those facing lifes battles; the Department of Culture continues to support local authors through its Book Launch Programme (Government of the Virgin Islands).
Pastor Ethlyn Rhymer of Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, will launch her second book, Even There, on 29 December 2025 at 4:00pm at The Afflair Store (across from the Sunday Morning Well in Road Town), the Government of the Virgin Islands has announced. The launch is presented in collaboration with the Governments Department of Culture, which continues to support Virgin Islands authors through its long-standing Book Launch Programme.
The Department serves as the central agency for preserving, protecting, and promoting the unique heritage and cultural traditions of the Virgin Islands (Government of the Virgin Islands). Rhymer, a mother of three and grandmother of one, Pastor Rhymer draws on faith, purpose and lived experience in Even There.
According to the Government release, her life is fuelled by an unshakeable faith and a passion for inspiring those around her. Rhymer is the author of Life in Paradise: A Baby Boomer's Reflection of Life in the Bay, published in 2019. That first book offered reflections on life, growth and perseverance in the Bay; Even There turns inward to a more personal subjecther health journeyand is described as both candid and faith-centred in tone. "Sharing my personal health journey was once unthinkable, but when God called me beyond my comfort zone, I stepped forward in obedience and strength," Pastor Rhymer said in the Government statement.
She added: "In this new book, entitled: 'Even There', my mission is to energise and encourage anyone navigating life's battles, reminding them that no matter how fierce the storm, victory is possible when God is the captain of the ship." Deputy Director of Culture Anne Lennard highlighted the wider community value of events like book launches. "Book launches, readings and signings are community events that bring people together especially families," she said. "It is well known that many persons in our communities continue to face what may seem like unprecedented challenges.
This new book may be one of the tools to help persons navigate through some of these troubling times. The book, Even There, is yet another Virgin Islands' story to be added to ones personal library," Lennard added (Department of Culture / Government of the Virgin Islands). For BVI residents, the launch presents an opportunity to support a local author and to participate in an event that underscores cultural preservation.
The Department of Culture encourages individuals and families to record and share their stories as part of the territorys living heritage and to use literature as a means of strengthening community ties.
