A pickup truck overturned on Windy Hill while travelling into Carrot Bay at around 5:00 PM after the driver reported brake failure, according to reports reaching our News Centre. Eyewitnesses say the driver, faced with a loss of braking power, steered the vehicle into the hillside in an effort to avoid a worse outcome; the manoeuvre caused the truck to topple.
Both the driver and the lone passenger exited the vehicle without injury and did not require medical treatment on scene. The single-vehicle incident produced a major backup of traffic along the Windy Hill stretch as emergency responders and police attended the scene. Officers were observed directing traffic and assessing the situation; motorists were advised to expect delays while the vehicle was being secured and cleared.
