The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has launched an investigation into a shooting incident in the Meyers community on Tortola that left one man injured early Saturday morning. According to law enforcement reports, the incident took place shortly after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26.
The victim was reportedly approached near his residence by two unidentified males described as having slim builds and dressed entirely in black clothing. During the encounter, a single gunshot was discharged, leaving the man with an apparent gunshot wound. Following the altercation, the injured man managed to make his way to the Dr.
Orlando Smith Hospital in Road Town, where he sought emergency medical care. Police investigators have not yet disclosed the victim's current condition or details regarding a potential motive for the shooting. Acting Commissioner of Police Richard Ullger addressed the matter, calling on residents to assist detectives in bringing those responsible to justice.
Ullger emphasized that the RVIPF treats all firearm-related offenses with the utmost urgency. "We take incidents involving firearms seriously," Ullger stated. "Our detectives are working to establish the circumstances and identify those responsible. I urge anyone with information about this incident or suspicious activity in the Meyers area to come forward.
