Police Renew Appeal for Missing 48-Year-Old Mozart
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has renewed its appeal for information on Mozart "Dexter" Peters, a 48-year-old vulnerable adult who has now been missing for three weeks. Police and Sixth District community volunteers have conducted extensive search operations across central Tortola following his disappearance in mid-August.
The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has renewed its urgent appeal for public assistance in locating Mozart Peters, widely known in the community as "Dexter," who has now been missing for three weeks. The 48-year-old Free Bottom resident was last seen on the night of August 17 at approximately 11:00 p.m.
Law enforcement authorities have described Peters as a vulnerable adult who may require personal or medical assistance, amplifying concerns among investigators and family members regarding his safety, physical health, and overall well-being. According to police, Peters was last seen in the Free Bottom area, following earlier sightings reported in the Purcell and Johnson Ghut communities.
In response to his disappearance, residents of the Sixth District organised a community search operation on August 19 to help locate him, joining dedicated volunteers and police officers in scouring central Tortola. To assist the public, authorities have reiterated Peters' physical description.
He is described as standing approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a slim build and a dark complexion. When last seen, he was wearing a white vest and light-blue underpants, and was not wearing shoes. The RVIPF continues to follow up on information and leads, asking residents, business owners, and motorists across Free Bottom, Purcell, Johnson Ghut, and surrounding districts to remain vigilant.
Property owners with surveillance cameras and drivers equipped with dashcams who travelled through those areas around the time of his disappearance are strongly encouraged to review their recordings for any potential sightings. Police officials stressed that timely tips from the public remain vital, noting that even minor observations or brief encounters could assist officers in establishing a timeline and ensuring his safe return.
The RVIPF expressed sincere gratitude to community members who have assisted with ground searches, and urged anyone with information regarding Peters' whereabouts to immediately call 311, visit the nearest police station, or speak with any RVIPF officer.
