Preliminary List Counts 16,553 Registered Voters
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections has published the 2026 Preliminary Voters List, recording a total of 16,553 registered voters across the territory. Residents are urged to inspect the register at 51 physical locations or online before the September 18 deadline for claims and objections.
A total of 16,553 registered voters currently make up the 2026 Preliminary Voters List published by the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, setting the stage as the British Virgin Islands prepares for general elections constitutionally due by June next year. The official register covers eligible voters across all nine electoral districts in the territory.
To ensure widespread accessibility and transparency, the preliminary document is now available for public inspection at 51 physical locations throughout the islands, as well as online through the official government portal. Supervisor of Elections Carlene Herbert has strongly encouraged all registered voters to inspect the list and verify that their personal details, including electoral district placements and the spelling of names, are recorded accurately.
Herbert highlighted that the inspection period is an essential step in maintaining an up-to-date and reliable voters roll. The public review allows election officials to identify administrative errors, address transfers, and rectify any anomalies before the list is finalized ahead of the upcoming electoral process.
Physical copies of the preliminary list have been distributed to key community hubs across Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Jost Van Dyke. These locations include government administration buildings, community clinics, supermarkets, retail stores, neighborhood restaurants, bars and grills, and the Terrance B.
The Office of the Supervisor of Elections reminded residents that the statutory review period operates under strict timelines. Qualified individuals who notice discrepancies, wish to make a formal claim, or intend to raise objections against any entry on the preliminary register must submit their official paperwork to the office by Friday, September 18.
