Qualified Companies Invited to Bid to Maintain
The Government of the Virgin Islands is accepting bids for a one-year contract to maintain the public beaches at Great Harbour and White Bay on Jost Van Dyke, the government said in a notice. Tenders from qualified companies must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on 30 April 2026, with full documentation and specified submission formats; the government has also provided additional contact channels for enquiries.
The Government of the Virgin Islands has opened a tender for a one-year contract to maintain the public beaches at Great Harbour and White Bay on Jost Van Dyke, the government announced in a formal notice. The two beaches total approximately 3,179 feet of shoreline — Great Harbour about 1,564 feet and White Bay about 1,615 feet — and the contract covers routine upkeep to keep these important tourist and community areas clean and safe, according to the Government of the Virgin Islands.
Proposed works include removal and disposal of seaweed, debris and general garbage (such as cans, bottles, cups, bags, paper, plastic, sticks and leaves) three times weekly. Contractors must also remove grass and small shrubs that grow on the beach twice weekly and rake the beaches for aesthetic upkeep three times weekly, the notice says.
The scope of work includes environmental monitoring duties. Contractors are required to watch for sand mining and other illegal activity that could remove sand from the offshore zone, the beach, or land behind the beach, and to report any suspicious activity to the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change.
If large objects wash ashore, contractors must contact the Ministry to arrange off-site disposal. Work is to begin no earlier than 6:00 a.m. and be completed by 12:00 p.m. the same day; alternate times may be approved on specific occasions, the government states. Interested tenderers are asked to furnish a quotation, contact information (address, email and phone), certificates of good standing from the Inland Revenue Department, Social Security Board and National Health Insurance, and the Company Registry certificate if incorporated.
A valid 2026 trade licence for cleaning/maintenance services and a list of similar jobs are also required. The notice warns that failure to enclose the required supporting documentation will render a tender non-responsive. All tenders must be received by 4:00 p.m. on 30 April 2026.
Submissions can be hand-delivered to the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change at #44 Pusser’s Building, Lower Estate, Road Town, Tortola, or sent via e-mail in a non-editable format to the Permanent Secretary at menrcc@gov.vg. E-mail filenames and subjects must include the applicant’s name and the title "MAINTENANCE OF BEACHES AT GREAT HARBOUR AND WHITE BAY, JOST VAN DYKE." Late submissions will not be accepted, the government notice adds.
