Resurfacing works along 4,000 linear feet of West End Road have officially been completed, marking a major milestone in the ongoing rehabilitation of one of Tortola's most vital transit corridors. According to the Government Information Service, the paving focused on the section known locally as The Bluff.

The initiative is a key component of the Government of the Virgin Islands' Nine-Mile Road Project, which is designed to comprehensively upgrade the main arterial route linking the West End Ferry Terminal directly to the capital of Road Town. The Nine-Mile Road corridor serves as a primary transit route for thousands of daily road users, including local residents traveling into Road Town for work and school, as well as international visitors entering through the West End sea port.

Because the thoroughfare handles substantial commercial, public, and private vehicular traffic, upgrading road surfaces and addressing structural safety remain key priorities for the territory's transport network. The paving works were executed by sub-contractor James Todman Construction Limited.

Earlier in August, the Ministry advised the public that approximately 4,000 feet of roadway in the area would undergo resurfacing. Construction was carried out one lane at a time to maintain active traffic flow and ensure safety for both road crews and the traveling public. During the active phase of the project, motorists were urged to reduce speed, exercise caution, and follow on-site instructions from traffic personnel.

Residents and frequent commuters have praised the prompt pace of the work, noting that the efficient turnaround compared favorably to other ongoing infrastructure developments across the Virgin Islands. The Ministry thanked the community for its continued patience and cooperation as road improvement projects progress.

Officials reiterated that the completed works are part of a broader commitment to deliver safer, more durable road infrastructure for all residents and visitors throughout the territory.
